The Foundation is led by its founder and a small board. The engineering behind the Beach Recovery System is carried by Basalt International; what is led from here is the art, the film, the record and the events that keep the shoreline in front of people.

Gregory J. Sarno
Founder & Chairman of the Board
Gregory Sarno founded Beach Recovery in 2002 and incorporated it in 2004, after years spent learning how land is reclaimed from the sea. He spent the early years on the water, installing the first nearshore structures and then photographing the same stretches of coast season after season, so that the case for the system could be made with dated evidence. In January 2016 he addressed the United Nations on beach erosion. In 2025 the engineering passed to Basalt International, where he is President, Shoreline Recovery & Protection Systems; he chairs the Foundation and directs its film work, including Saving BÚ.
Joseph Berger brings eight years of experience in real estate acquisitions and capital markets. Under Gregory Sarno's tutelage he serves as a Director of the Shoreline Recovery & Protection Systems division at Basalt International, and as Vice Chairman of the Foundation he leads its film, art, brand-partnership, merchandise and events work, including the Collaborating Artists programme and the Founder Kit. He is a director of the film Saving BÚ.
Corina Teleaga
Lead Executive Assistant to Gregory Sarno, Chairman, and Joseph Berger, Vice Chairman
Corina Teleaga supports the Chairman and Vice Chairman across the Foundation's operations, partners and events. She brings more than fifteen years in luxury goods, hospitality and international sales across the United States and Europe: she founded and ran a denim manufacturing company in Verona and a fashion import and retail business in New York, led international sales and buying for a Florence ready-to-wear house, and owns and operates hospitality properties in Venice and Florence. She works in Italian, English, Romanian and Russian, with conversational Spanish.
