A boat you no longer use could help us better understand and protect the natural systems that sustain our beaches.
Beach Recovery Foundation is developing its nonprofit work around studying dunes, mangroves, sea oats, and other native coastal vegetation. Our goal is to support research, education, and appropriate planting efforts that help capture sand, hold soil, strengthen dunes, and restore coastal habitat.
Why We Need a Boat
We're seeking a donated boat to access coastal research locations, study mangroves and connected shoreline habitats, and document changes over time.
The boat would support the Foundation's research and restoration mission, helping us observe how dunes and native vegetation contribute to healthier, more resilient shorelines.
A Meaningful Gift With a Potential Tax Benefit
Beach Recovery Foundation is working toward IRS recognition under Section 501(c)(3).
Your boat donation may qualify for a charitable tax deduction if IRS recognition covers the date of your gift and applicable tax requirements are met. Deductibility is not guaranteed before that recognition is confirmed.
The allowable deduction depends on your circumstances, the boat's value, and how the Foundation uses or disposes of it. Boat donations have specific documentation requirements and may require a qualified appraisal. Please consult your tax adviser before transferring ownership.
We welcome conversations now with prospective donors so we can review the vessel, discuss its intended use, and clarify our status and donation documentation before a transfer.
